Darkwave/Gothic Rock band formed in Karlsruhe, Germany in 1993 by Johannes Berthold. Scarcely another band among the German-speaking Alternative /(Dark)Wave-scene has polarized media and audience within the last eighteen years as much as ILLUMINATE. Either praised up to the skies or torn apart as „Schlager“ (a German derogatory term for bad pop songs) – be that as it may, for the last decade, Jo-hannes Berthold and his band have left their mark on the Dark scene...

There are several bands with this name: 1. A band from Bistrita, Romania. They are the worship band in their church and they are well known amoung the youths in Romania. The Ekklesia group features almost 25 people, young (18-22 years) boys and girls, who serve the Lord in a pentacostal church with more than 800 members.
2. A hardcore band from Australia.
3: A four-piece hard rock band from Wilson, North Carolina.
4. A contemporary urban-gospel, British group.

Gothic rockers Solemn Novena formed in early 2006, with a mission of creating guitar orientated Gothic Rock, no techno bleepy influences or metal posturing for these guys, oh no. This had to be straight down the middle goth, just like the 90’s had never happened. Or this century either. Sick of going to ‘gothic’ nightclubs and spending the nights looking moody in the corners, secretly wishing they’d play 'Serpent’s Kiss' (so they could display the light bulb changing and apple picking dance moves...
