Soliton

There are two artists by the name Soliton 1) Is a heavy metal band from Ukraine and 2) A 'progressive tech' electronica(?) artist from Quebec. The below information is about the first band: Soliton is a heavy metal group from Poltava, Ukraine but later moved to Kiev. The lineup consists of Oleksandr Moklyak on vocals, guitar, bass, Katerina Stepanenko on vocals/bass while session members Sergiy Petrenko filled in for guitar, drums, violin, harmonica and backing vocals while Dmitriy Vapel'nyk did guitar.

Svjata Vatra

Svjata Vatra is an Estonian-Ukrainian folkband. The musicians themselves call their style „firefolk“. The band’s composition is unique: the temperamental trombone together with the Estonian bagpipes produce amazing sound patterns. Duduk’s deep southern tones bring in more distant melodies and the dialogue with the northern horn sweeps away even the last shadows of cultural barriers. The melancholy accordion balances and ties the wind and percussion instruments (djembe, tarbuka and buhalo) together.

Valentina Lisitsa

Valentina Lisitsa is a Ukrainian-born classical pianist. Born into a family of non-musicians in Kiev, Ukraine, she started playing piano at the age of three, performing her first solo recital only a year later. Despite her early disposition to music, her dream at that point was to become a professional chess player. She attended the Lysenko music school for Gifted Children and, later, Kiev Conservatory.

Burning Hearts

Le Futur Pompiste, which released one marvelous album in 2004, Your Stories and Your Thoughts, before the vagaries of adult life scattered them far and wide; and Cats On Fire, whose debut long-player, 2007's The Province Complains, captivated all who were lucky enough to hear it (among them the writers at superlative U.K. magazine The Word). It was inevitable that this pair of bands, whose music shares a poise and sophistication rarely heard anywhere, never mind within the modest environs of Finland, would find each other.

Anno Domini

There’s something happening in Australia. In the past 12 months there has been an insurgence of metal acts that adhere to a standard far beyond that of your typical unsigned Australian band. Bands like Dred (now Oroborus), Templestowe and Aeon of Horus place great value on high quality production, recordings and exceptional artwork. Anno Domini are the next band to join the ranks of those striving for metal perfection.

The Ukrainians

The Ukrainians is a band formed by British musicians of Ukrainian descent. They adapt Ukrainian folk music (as well as Western pop) into a mostly acoustic high-energy style that fuses punk and folk, much as The Pogues did for Irish traditional music. They were formed after British indie band The Wedding Present recorded BBC radio sessions of Ukrainian folk songs between 1988-1991. This came about because Weddoes guitarist Peter Solowka was of Ukrainian origin.
