The Alchemist and Oh No, respected and accomplished MCs and producers in their own right, weren’t acquainted until they met at a show headlined by Dilated Peoples member and mutual friend, Evidence. Inspired, Al contacted Oh No and proposed a collaborative project. From that point they “just clicked”, says Oh No. “I sent him a verse and a beat, and he sent a beat and a verse.” The creative sparring continued, and they began to refer to the work as Gangrene.

Joseph "Run" Simmons or Rev Run was born on November 14, 1964 in Jamaica, Queens. He is best know as one third of rap legends Run-D.M.C.. Simmons began using Rev Run as a stage name after he was ordained as a reverend priest in Zoe Ministries. His first work as Rev Run was a feature in the single "Song For Lovers" by UK pop band Liberty X in September 2005. Later in 2005 "Distortion" Simmons' first solo album came out. The first single, Mind On The Road is featured in the EA Sports Madden NFL 2006 video game.

Hakeem Seriki (born November 28, 1979 in Houston, Texas) is a Grammy Award nominated rapper, member of The Color Changin' Click and founder of Chamillitary Entertainment. Better known as Chamillionaire, he also uses nicknames such as The Mixtape Messiah, King Koopa, Color Changin' Lizard, Chamillinator, Chamillitary Mayne, Major Payne and The Truth From Texas. He began rapping in 1998, releasing mixtapes and a collab album with fellow Houston rapper Paul Wall. He released his debut album, The Sound of Revenge, in 2005, and his sophmore release, Ultimate Victory, in 2007.

R.A. the Rugged Man, real name R.A. Thorburn, is a rapper from Stony Brook, Long Island. He began his music career at age 12. At 18, he signed to Jive Records. R.A.'s legend, perpetuated by the P.R. biographies at his various labels, say he was dropped due to violent and disgusting behavior, but in interviews he disputes many of the more extreme stories told about him, adding that Jive just didn't know how to break new artists at the time.

The name "Crooked I" comes from a shortened version of his original moniker, Crooked Intriago. It has nothing to do with the malt liquor. Vinnie Paz is the lyricist behind the Philadelphian underground hip-hop group Jedi Mind Tricks. Originally born Vincenzo Luvineri, Vinnie Paz's original rapping pseudonym was Ikon the Verbal Hologram. As a fan of boxing, he changed his name to Vinnie Paz, after the Rhode island boxer Vinny Paz. Vinnie originally started rapping with fellow Jedi Mind Tricks member Stoupe in his basement. Paz is known for his raw and gritty lyrical delivery. Contrary to popular belief, Vinnie does NOT have metal plates in his mouth.
