Freya Hollick

Freya Hollick is a singer-songwriter from the country town of Ballarat, Australia. She records lo-fidelity songs and sings in a voice of ethereal beauty. The themes of her lyrics span from psychedelic imagery and fairytale characters to personal experiences, and those of friends and acquaintances. Freya's music is largely influenced by the Beatles, Nick Drake and the Velvet Underground, while she also takes inspiration from Syd Barrett, and more contemporary indie artists such as Eels and M. Ward. She is sometimes compared to Emiliana Torrini.

Yowie

Yowie, a dual-guitar and drums trio from St. Louis, have been stunning audiences with their incomparable barrage of sonic kung fu. They accelerate the progressive-rock rhythmic sensibilities of Ruins and Magma and mutate them with the shrieker side of Big Black and Slayer. The band incorporates many variations in time signature, tempo, and tuning, to create a virtual audio maze, but no matter how complex things get, their compositions remain cohesive and compelling. After releasing their debut album Cryptooology on Skin Graft, they lost a guitarist.

Robedoor

Robedoor is the duo of Alex: slime, knives and distortion, and Notnotfun label head honcho Britt on fire, howls and cloaks...
Hmmm... but what does all that mean, sonically? Well, precisely what you might imagine. A blackened drone drenched world of slime and knives and fire, dense clouds of distorted howls, a thick cloak of fuzz and buzz wrapped around the proceedings like a thick, well, cloak! Actually this is a lot prettier than you might imagine. That is, if your idea of pretty includes tons of low end and a world of slow motion doomdrone.

Jim O'Rourke

American indie rock and avant-garde musician, composer and producer Jim O'Rourke has been a key component in the increasing overlap of the American and European music , working in everything from and to and and building many a bridge in between. A Chicago native, his work has found equal luck with experimental jazz and fanatics, room denizens, and bedroom experimentalists, and has had the resultant effect of cross-pollinating many otherwise isolated compositional communities.

Adam Gnade

Adam Gnade's (guh nah dee) work is released as a series of books and records that share characters and themes; the fiction writing continuing plot-lines left open by the self-described "talking songs" in an attempt to compile a vast, detailed, interconnected, personal history of contemporary American life. The lyrics of the songs come from prose writing (not poetry or spoken word) and the material is performed live, solo, with Adam on banjo or four-string guitar, generally unamplified, sitting or standing in the middle of the crowd.
