Breakneck Static

Breakneck Static formed in 2004 from the ashes of Southend indie rock band, Calico, when guitarist Adrian Lane met singer Machiko Kimura, who had recently moved to London from Tokyo. Influenced by the Japanese noise scene (bands such as Zeni Geva, Yona Kit, Melt Banana), the original line-up was completed by Adrian's sister Debbie Lane on drums, Matt Elmes on bass and James Beighton on guitar. With the departure of James Beighton in 2005 and Machiko Kimura in 2007, the current line-up now includes Bryan Styles on guitar, alto sax and trumpet, and Rei Sugawara on vocals.

The Mass

"The barrier between metal and jazz has been pierced again. Like Chicago's Yakuza, the Bay Area thrash outfit The Mass augment their high-speed, staccato riffing with fluid, almost (dare I say it) harmolodic saxophone lines from vocalist Matt Walters. There are times when Walters launches into screeching, post-Ayler solos, in the manner of Steve Mackay on the Stooges' Fun House or Bruce Lamont on Yakuza's Way Of The Dead; the just-under-90-second "Gas Pipe" is the most extreme track on the disc, from this angle.

Braid

Braid is an American band from Urbana, Illinois that formed in 1993. After forming, the band went through several line-up changes but eventually settled on Bob Nanna on vocals and guitar, Todd Bell on bass, Chris Broach on guitar and vocals and Roy Ewing on drums. Roy was replaced in 1997 by Damon Atkinson. In 1999 Braid disbanded and went on to form Hey Mercedes with all band members minus Chris Broach (who went on to form The Firebird Band) and adding Mark Dawursk. The band reformed for a US tour in 2004 and, now that Hey Mercedes are defunct, apparently intend to tour sporadically.

Juno

There are at least six artists that have used this name: 1. Juno was an American indie rock band formed in Seattle, WA in 1995. They released their debut album This Is the Way It Goes and Goes and Goes on DeSoto Records on March 30, 1999. Their second album A Future Lived in Past Tense was released May 8, 2001. Although their two albums are very paced, steady, slow-burning epics with the occasional explosion of fireworks (hear Leave a Clean Camp and a Dead Fire for a quintessential Juno track)...
