Dislocation Dance

Indie pop pioneers Dislocation Dance formed in Manchester in November 1978, when bassist-lyricist Paul Emmerson met up with singer-guitarist Ian Runacres via a "musicians wanted" ad in a Virgin record store. They were joined by Andy Diagram (formerly of Diagram Brothers and The Pale Fountains, trumpet, vocals) and Richard Harrison (drums). NoMeansNo

Nomeansno is a punk band originally from Victoria, British Columbia, Canada and now located in Vancouver, British Columbia. The band have never had, or have ever seemed to pursue, strong mainstream success, but they do have a devoted underground following in North America and Europe. The band was formed in 1979 by brothers Rob Wright (bass guitar and vocals) and John Wright (drum set, keyboards and vocals). Their name derives from an anti-date rape slogan.

Jean Louis

Jean Louis is a notable three-piece jazzcore / free jazz band from Paris, France formed in 2006. A groove thrown out of gear with compact and distorted sound. Jean Louis nourishes himself of wood, metal and electric cables. Agitates his members and cuts out sections of music to the basement. Chews very slowly, then goes back to surface or expels his compositions containing powerful fronts of explosive rhythmic lines. The original lineup: Aymeric Avice - trumpet;

MechaGodzilla

Mechagodzilla was formed in 1997 by young people aiming to make an horrific noise for a bit of a laugh. Their main influences were people unconvincingly dressed as monsters and loud fast things. Over the years very little has changed, apart from the line-up and some grey hairs. Mechagodzilla tread the fine line between inspired art, and a celebration of stupidity - more often than not the line becomes quite blurred, which is all part of the idea.

The Mass

"The barrier between metal and jazz has been pierced again. Like Chicago's Yakuza, the Bay Area thrash outfit The Mass augment their high-speed, staccato riffing with fluid, almost (dare I say it) harmolodic saxophone lines from vocalist Matt Walters. There are times when Walters launches into screeching, post-Ayler solos, in the manner of Steve Mackay on the Stooges' Fun House or Bruce Lamont on Yakuza's Way Of The Dead; the just-under-90-second "Gas Pipe" is the most extreme track on the disc, from this angle.
