Terence Fixmer, born in Lille (north of France at the Belgium border) in 1972, discovered the EBM (ELECTRONIC BODY MUSIC) when he was 15 and became a NITZER EBB-, FRONT 242-, KLINIK-, - AND DAF- fan. At the beginning of the 89-90's he was a party freaker and his interest for the electronic sound increased with the apparition of the New-Beat and Techno in Belgium. At this time he started to buy records and " flashed" on VORTREX from FINAL EXPOSURE(+8). In 1992, he decided to produce his own music and he started to throw parties called "Cosmos" and "Space" in a club called PYRAMIDE.
As a member of Kompakt since the early 90s, Reinhard Voigt has been a key player in the development and subsequent success of this legendary Cologne-based record label. Taking early notes from his infamous older brother Wolfgang Voigt (aka Mike Ink), Reinhard has refined and re-tooled his sound in a direction that has become unmistakeably his own in it's dirty, subversive (yet charming) minimal techno pop.
Balam Acab is the musical project of 21 year old Pennsylvania, USA native Alec Koone. Balam Acab's contributions fit squarely into the contemporary witch house canon made popular by bands such as Purity Ring and Salem. Forming tracks consisting mainly of arpeggiated riffs and synthesized beats layered over obscure, distorted samples alluding to classic animated films, Balam Acab creates a dream world worthy of its nostalgic references.
Mr. Flash, real name Gilles Bousquet, is a DJ and producer in the French house scene. His work is a mix of hip-hop and house with guitar sounds.
He started producing tracks since 1999 under the name Flash Gordon, featuring many rap artists. He also worked on TTC's album. He found his own label Lust Island in 2001 which only featured his own release Le Voyage Fantastique. After that Busy P, founder of Ed Banger Records, asked him to join his label.
There are, at least, three artists known as Playgroup. 1) A pseudonym of London, UK electroclash / electro house producer & graphic designer Trevor Jackson (aka UNDERDOG). Jackson also ran, the now defunct, Output Recordings. Discography: Make It Happen! (2000), Playgroup (2001, brought diverse influences, inc: funk, disco, hip-hop, electro & dub - creating an album that relies heavily on the past, only to reshape, with such vigour, that it might sound too modern, for its own good), several more releases followed, Reproduction (2004, a remix album) & Front 2 Back (feat. The Advent may refer to the alias of techno artist Cisco Ferreira or the Christian metalcore band. aka Cisco Ferreira Longtime advocates of sonic terrorism even before banding together as the Advent in 1993, Cisco Ferreira and Colin McBean's assault on conventional techno flourished in part because of abundant glimpses into related styles, from electro and hip-hop to techno. Soon after leaving school, Ferreira began working as an engineer at Jack Trax Records, a job which enabled him to glimpse first-hand the work of such auteurs as Derrick May and Marshall Jefferson.
