Michael Giacchino (pronounced juh-kee-no) (born 1967, Riverside, New Jersey) is an American soundtrack composer who has composed several multi-award winning scores for many popular movies, television series and video games. He attended the Evening Division at the Juilliard School, as well as the School of Visual Arts in New York City, where he acquired a degree in film production and a minor degree in History.

A master of the classical repertoire, Bell has expanded his career to contemporary music and genres such as folk and jazz. He has won Grammy Awards and an Academy Award for his work with John Corgliano on The Red Violin.

As well as his solo releases he has contributed to music by 4hero, The Herbaliser and The Heritage Orchestra among others. He is currently active with The Tomorrow Band and Scorched Earth. Originally from Birmingham, UK, he began his professional career with The K-Creative in the early 90s acid jazz boom, and also worked with Palm Skin Productions, Jessica Lauren and Jhelisa Anderson.
