Stars of the Lid are a band specializing in drone-based ambient music. Jules Émile Frédéric Massenet (May 12, 1842 – August 13, 1912) was a French composer from Montaud, France, who was best known for his operas. His compositions were very popular in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and he ranks as one of the greatest melodists of his era. Soon after his death, Massenet's style went out of fashion, and many of his operas fell into almost total oblivion. Apart from Manon and Werther, his works were rarely performed. However, since the mid-1970s, many operas of his such as Thaïs and Esclarmonde have undergone periodic revivals.

Snaith renamed himself Caribou in 2004 under threat of an American lawsuit by Richard "Handsome Dick" Manitoba, who had used the surname professionally since the 1970s but has not released any music as a solo artist. Manitoba's critically acclaimed album "Up In Flames" has since been re-released under the Caribou name and listed as such in discographies.

Broken Spindles is the brainchild of Joel Petersen of Omaha, Nebraska. He is in other Saddle Creek bands, playing bass guitar in The Faint and Beep Beep. The music is mostly instrumental with minimal vocals which Petersen sings. It originally started in 2001 as the soundtrack for a friend's film. It developed into a solo project with the first release in 2002 on Tiger Style Records. In between touring with The Faint and Beep Beep, Petersen found time to write music for Broken Spindles. The song, "Song No Song," from fulfilled/complete was used in a car commercial for Lexus
Volcano Choir is an American indie band that started as a collaboration between Justin Vernon (of Bon Iver) and Collections of Colonies of Bees. Their debut album is Unmap and was released on September 22, 2009. It reached number 92 on the Billboard Top 200 chart. A second album, Repave, was released on September 3, 2013.
The project originally came together with songs being written in 2005. It was not recorded until the fall of 2008 in Fall Creek, Wisconsin, USA.

Bristol born Caroline Martin started writing and recording in 1996. At this point in her life she was living on the edge of Wentwood Forest in South Wales. With her dog for company, Caroline drew on her surroundings, the isolation and memories from her childhood upbringing in Yate to write her stories of loss, fear and revenge. Caroline released her debut 5 track EP - Young Tender Rabbit Meat - on her own label in 1998.

Gluck's operatic reforms, eliminating all that was undramatic, were a turning point in the history of the medium. Gluck's musical legacy was around 35 complete operas, together with numerous ballets and instrumental works.
