Black Math

With their drum-machine-powered, infectious fuzzed-out goth, Black Math bring to mind the Jesus and Mary Chain (or, if you ask them, Siouxsie and the Banshees), but with more layers to pick apart. Xina’s vocals float like the open sky above dark clouds, and she plays the cello! Jimmy’s synth and sharp drum patterns bring a shadowy dark-wave element, while Andrew’s wall-of-sound guitar harkens back to the aforementioned 1980s shoegazers.

The Anxiety Of Love

Formed 2011, thrashing out ideas and emotions in a cellar, and coming up with something that when harnessed, shimmered and howled. Ill health and psychological issues put it on ice for half a year, but then freshly focused, jumping in the fire blind, The Anxiety Of Love recorded four songs in the August of 2012, which by the end of the year will be released as their first recording, a cassette EP, called simply 'One.'

Kim Ki O

"kim ki o"s songs are self-written, self-played, self-sung and self-recorded in the name of self-pleasure and self-impulsion. The band's compendious lyrics are sung in Turkish on the simple but uncanny surface of the music. "kim ki o", which is -lamely enough- the Turkish expression for "who is that anyway", is a name chosen for its phonetic beauty. And it is pronounced as it reads. "kim ki o" likes to experiment with synthesizers and drum machines but does not like to involve computers in their music; prefers to do all the action live with the enthusiasm, tension and everything.

Boca 45

Boca 45 is DJ and producer Scott Hendy, from Bristol, UK. Since 2004 he has been signed to the independent record label, Grand Central Records. Prior to this, he released material on Hombré Recordings, Illicit Records, Superslick Stereo Sounds and High Noon Records. The name is derived from the Argentinean football team Boca Juniors, and a common name for a 7" single (so called because of the speed, in revolutions per minute, that a record of this size plays at).

Beacon

Beacon is Thomas Mullarney III and Jacob Gossett. Their “No Body EP” explores a combination of deep south bass music and ambient pop melodies, with R&B tinged vocals that accompany warm arpeggiated synthesizers. The EP's atmosphere and narrative recall brooding spirituality in the wake of first love and the allure of the paranormal in teenage romance.

Capital Cities

L.A.’s Capital Cities arrive with a little sonic head rush called ‘Safe and Sound’, an easy, breezy, beautiful slice of effervescent electro-pop that even comes complete with a massive ‘trumpets-in-da-club’ bit that absolutely kills it. (Neon Gold) The song has catchy indie stylings and features the beloved vintage Juno-106 keyboard that gives the production such a comforting retro vibe. (Arjan Writes) It's a scorcher bound to make your dance-infused taste buds sizzle. The music swarms with outside-of-the-box tendencies, jam-packed full of life, energy and unusual yet fantastic sounds.
