Savoir Adore

If you're not familiar with the back-story of Savoir Adore, what began as a 48-hour challenge between two best friends blossomed into one of Brooklyn's most exciting and unique young bands. With an experimental approach to their writing and recording, Paul Hammer and Deidre Muro weave a magical musical tapestry with their distinct voices, lush harmonies, and wild sonic palette. Somewhere between dream pop and adventure wave, their songs transport you to a world that is both foreign and warmly familiar.

Holy Strays

Sebastien Forrester, a French bohemian artist based in Paris, France who traffics within a melange of aliases but whose freshest mask is Holy Strays. Stuttering drum loops, hypnotic keyboard spirals, and melodic fogs that float up then dissipate. The elements are all there gelling up a superlative sound.

Tav Falco's Panther Burns

‘ballroom gothic juntabilly garage band’ ...is an apt descripton of this band. For folks who prize unspoiled simplicity in rock and roll -especially rockabilly. Tav Falco's Panther Burns may be the ultimate: Drenched in echo, Falco goes through a familiar repertoir of Elvis Presley-derived "whooops", mutters, and coos, while an amateurish backing band (that included Alex Chilton in the early years) grinds away looking like high school rocker's struggling through their first rehearsal.

Spider

There are at least seven artists which have used the name Spider: an indie folk singer from New York, United States, a metal band from England, a punk band from Hungary, a lo-fi band from Washington, United States, a ska/rock band from Malaysia, a power pop band from Wallasey, England, a rapper from Mexico. 1. Spider is an alias for Brooklyn musician Jane Herships. Most of the songs on her release The Way to Bitter Lake are hushed, personal songs with elements of shoegazing reminescent of musicians such as Nick Drake and M. Ward.

Led Er Est

Led Er Est emerged from a series of jam sessions that core members Shawn O’Sullivan and Sam De La Rosa started having in early 2007, using bass guitar, some cheap drum machines, and synths. They were inspired to record music largely by ’70s synth prog, and ’80s lo-fi electronic and industrial music. They recorded a number of songs at friend Will Burnett’s studio that fall. Their first officially released track was on the Wierd Records compilation, Analogue Electronic Music Vol II. Owen Hutchinson joined the band for their first live show at the Wierd party that December.

Tits of Death

Five women. Two bass guitars. Two synths. One guitar. And the Dirty Box. Tits of Death was borne out of not much more than the simple desire to jump around and act out the deepest, darkest, most Spinal Tap- esque of rock fantasies. It was never meant to go beyond the confines of the keyboardist's lounge, yet merely months and a few gigs into their lifespan, Tits of Death's shouty full-on fuzz assault - variously described by revellers as Peaches and Add N To (X) bulldozed by the Cramps or...
