Robin Beck

ROBIN BECK first came to prominence singing the Coca-Cola theme tune 'The First Time', scoring a major international hit in the process. Although this was to be the general public's inauguration into the lady's work, Beck had in fact been plugging away on the music scene for quite some time, having issued her debut album, the heavily Disco orientated 'Sweet Talk', in 1979. This soon forgotten opus, featuring backing vocals from no less a figure than Luther Vandross, included a cover version of TODD RUNDGREN's 'Hello It's Me'.

Wordsworth

As his name suggests, Brooklyn-bred microphone fiend Wordsworth is the epitome of a true Hip Hop wordsmith. At a time when the rap market is flooded with formulaic, cookie-cutter sensations who churn out fast, forgettable hits rather than solid albums, this Lyricist Lounge all-star is looking to the past to reinvigorate the present by recalling the essence of 1994 - when the beats were hard and emcees talked to listeners rather than at them about relevant topics they could relate to.

Zebra Katz

Fresh on the scene and he's already taken the fashion and hip hop worlds by storm! Pulling from a multimedia and performance art background, Zebra Katz brings a slo-mo dark delivery to his rhymes, which are set over a minimal, unencumbered beat on his highly acclaimed first single "IMA READ" (Mad Decent/Jeffrrees). "IMA READ" was heralded as the "Official Song of Paris Fashion Week" after Rick Owens personally chose it to score his Fall/Winter Womenswear runway show.

Martha Wash

It's a sad comment on the music industry that Martha Wash had to SUE various records labels for ripping off her vocals for other big hits (BLACK BOX, C&C MUSIC FACTORY) to finally get a shot at making her own debut album, but here it is! If only more people bought it like me. If you love house beats and fierce, lung-busting vocals, how can you deny the triple threat of the CD's open trio of dance hits: WHATCHA GONNA DO, GIVE IT TO YOU, and RUNAROUND - all hammered at dance clubs in the mid 90s.
