22-20s is a band from lincolnshire with indie, blues and folk influences. They were formed in 2003 and released their self-titled debut album (22-20s) the following year. The success of the single 'Shoot Your Gun' and the track 'Devil In Me' shot the band to prominence after its use in a Vauxhall commercial. In early 2006, after four years together touring, with difficulties recording their follow-up album and a desire to change musical direction, the band mutually agreed to split up.
With their drum-machine-powered, infectious fuzzed-out goth, Black Math bring to mind the Jesus and Mary Chain (or, if you ask them, Siouxsie and the Banshees), but with more layers to pick apart. Xina’s vocals float like the open sky above dark clouds, and she plays the cello! Jimmy’s synth and sharp drum patterns bring a shadowy dark-wave element, while Andrew’s wall-of-sound guitar harkens back to the aforementioned 1980s shoegazers.
Ever since 2002 when Adam Stephens (guitar/vocals/harmonica) and Tyson Vogel (drums/vocals) began making noise at house parties and on street corners they've slowly been carving out their own creative space. In a world where bigger is often considered better and quality is sacrificed with ease, Two Gallants have risen against the tide with their cathartic, stripped-down sound and depth of material to forge an intimate bond with a wide array of fans.
Mars Volta is a European electronic act, responsible for songs such as "Bach Song". This band is, understandably, often confused with The Mars Volta ( modern progressive rock band featuring former members of At the Drive-In). In fact, these two bands are entirely different and unrelated.
But, in fact, of the top 10 songs listed 9 are from The Mars Volta, most likely because of the bad tagging of most mp3s.
The Reindeer Section is a scottish indie rock supergroup formed in 2001 by Gary Lightbody of Snow Patrol, who released albums and gigged in 2001 and 2002. The Reindeer Section grouping was somewhat ad hoc, and so it is uncertain if more will be heard from them. However in a 2007 interview with the Times Online, Gary Lightbody declared his interest in recording another album once work finishes on the next Snow Patrol album - probably in 2008.
Minus the Bear is an indie rock group which formed in Seattle, Washington, United States in 2001 and have released four albums and four EPs. The band consists of Jake Snider (vocals, guitar), Dave Knudson (guitar), Cory Murchy (bass), Alex Rose (synths, vocals) and Erin Tate (drums). Original keyboardist Matt Bayles left the band in 2006, but has remained on good terms with the band and produced their 2007 album Planet of Ice.
There are three bands with the name Shiner. 1) Shiner was a math rock band from Kansas City formed in 1992. The group originally comprised of Allen Epley (guitar/ vocals), Jeff Brown (drums) and Shawn Sherrill (bass), before Tim Dow took over on the skins a year later. With this line up, the band found themselves sharing the stage with Season to Risk, Sunny Day Real Estate, The Jesus Lizard, Girls Against Boys and Jawbox among others before DeSoto Records released their debut EP "Brooks" b/w "Released" 7" in 1993.
Denmarks second capital Aarhus harboured their first two short playing EPs (released exclusively on 10 vinyl by Auditory Designs) and was a well-kept secret amongst DJs and nu jazz connoisseurs. By now the city once again lays ground to their fables from the World Seas. Analogik has settled as a quartet and invited additional guests for this first full cycle. Due to the foursomes different backgrounds, their music isnt easily categorised.
Once upon a time in the West Midlands, four lads who liked to play a bit of music decided to play a bit together. At first things went well and all four were happy. After playing together again and again, things improved. Shared feelings of contentment shifted up a gear to excitement, and this encouraged them to want to play more music together. This led, in no time at all or so it seemed, to still further improvement.
