Helen Love
Helen Love are an indie band from wales whose music is a combination of punk rock and disco dance music. They were formed by the eponymous Helen Love who claims only to listen to the music of the Ramones, from which she draws inspiration for the band's music. Their music has been covered by the likes of Ash and Tullycraft. Current members are Helen, Sheena and Beth. Past members: Gary Strickland (guitar, 1997).
Amen Corner
1) Amen Corner was a successful British rock group, formed in late 1966 in Cardiff, Wales. Named after Amen Corner, a small residential area on the edge of Bracknell in Berkshire. Initially they specialised in a blues and jazz-orientated style, but were steered by their record companies into more commercial pastures. Their first singles and album appeared on Decca's subsidiary label Deram, but they left at the end of 1968 to join Immediate, where they were instantly rewarded with a No.
Silence At Sea
Cardiff based duo Laura and Gareth make lovely acoustic lo-fi pop which they wouldn't be ashamed to call just a little 'twee'.
Dementio13
Dementio13 is a Cardiff-based producer/remixer; recording solo since 1999. His music is a curious mix of Krautrock-influenced drones, experimental electro, film soundtracks, post-rock, drum n bass and psychedelia. Dementio13 often deletes his older releases which no longer 'fit' his musical vision; in his own words, "Music is temporary." His back-catalogue is always changing.
He has also been involved in collaborative projects with the international duo Cwtch, the music collective, Sal Boca and his other solo project Diebenkorn.
Neon Neon
Neon Neon is a collaboration between the artists Boom Bip and Gruff Rhys. They first worked together on Boom Bip's Blue Eyed in the Red Room album, released in 2005. Their debut album, Stainless Style was released on March 18th, 2008 through Lex Records. Their first single Trick for Treat is also out, and can be heard on their myspace page. The album "Stainless Style" was nominated for the 2008 Mercury Prize.
Right Hand Left Hand
The spiritual beginnings of Right Hand Left Hand occured when both members heard Trans Am for the first time in a dingy club in Groningen. While both members feature heavily in a number of Cardiff based bands, RHLH is the opportunity to break out on their own, experimenting with loops, random instrument swaps and attempting to find out how heavy is too heavy...
