The Cannanes have been described as 'the world's most indie band' by people with no understanding of the word 'indie'. Despite never having a manager, agent or signing a record deal they have toured the world, produced numerous recordings (numerous meaning 'more than one'), and been recognised internationally as one of Australia's best known bands (some recognition!). Even Kurt Cobain listed the Cannanes as a band he liked in his journals (but nowhere else).
Jangly drum machine-indie-punk-pop trio from Gothenburg Sweden, the greatest city in the universe. Jolly good music to listen to when you want to "take in".
Summer Cats are two girls and three boys from Melbourne, Australia. Like most people from Melbourne, they spend their time either: a) enjoying summer or b) waiting for summer to arrive. They play crash pop in an attempt to make you dance, so if you feel the urge...go right ahead! Musically they are somewhat of a cross between Stereolab and The Go-Betweens....or is that Talulah Gosh and The Left Banke?
The Hi-Life Companion are a Bristol based indie-pop collective loosely based around brothers Matt and Jon Troy. At the last count there were at least seven people in , or contributing to the band. Members come and go. Some members don't even know they are members. Jon is also the drummer in Airport Girl, who have released their second album on Fortuna Pop! Mark used to play the drums in The Mayfields. Mel will only sing for champagne and chocolate.
David and Holly are lovely eggs. They like to play music together and share a drink (although David doesnt like Strongbow anymore. It doesnt agree with him.) Holly likes books and historical things. David doesnt like books and historical things so much. He prefers cine light shows and fixing things that are broken. Oh, and collectibles. Is this anything to do with the music? Why but of course. This (my dear Watson) tells you everything and nothing all at once.
Noisy guitars, twee vocals, glorious pop.
Indie pop/punk with a drum machine.
