Bad Veins

Bad Veins is an indie rock duo from Cincinnati, Ohio, composed of Benjamin Davis and Sebastien Schultz. The band released their debut self-titled album on Dangerbird Records. Davis primarily writes the music, plays guitar and keyboard, and sings, while also recording backtracking music on a reel-to-reel tape player, nicknamed Irene. Schultz plays the drums. Davis also uses a megaphone and telephone to sing into, producing an unique sound.

Lowrider

There are three bands with the name Lowrider. 1) Emerging onto the Adelaide music scene in late 2003, the foursome met through the city's tight knit music community after playing in different bands. Brothers Paul and John Bartlett aka Papa John and Mr Cee, teamed with Scott Duncan aka Scotty D and Joe Braithwaite to form Lowrider. Their distinct sound has been developed organically drawing from very diverse influences including Donny Hathaway, Marvin Gaye, Curtis Mayfield, The Roots, Mos Def and Erykah Badu.

Nosowska

Nosowska is an abbreviation of Katarzyna Nosowska (aka Kasia Nosowska), best known as the lead singer of Hey (Polish rock band, she co-founded in 1992). Besides her career with the band, she has released five solo albums, to date. Her solo releases are substantially different in style from that of Hey's. Babybird

Babybird was a British indie band, formed in 1995. The band was fronted by Stephen Jones, who has also released records as a solo artist, using his own name and the name Baby Bird. Jones had begun writing songs and recording home demos as part of an experimental theatre group in Sheffield. A collection of these demos (I Was Born a Man) was released in the summer of 1995, under the name Baby Bird.

The Black Angels

The Black Angels are a rock band from Austin, Texas, formed in May 2004. Their name derives from the Velvet Underground song "The Black Angel's Death Song". Hannah Levin's review of the Black Angels album Passover described them as "Walking in the shadows cast by Spacemen 3 and Spiritualized mastermind Jason Pierce" and compared them to The Warlocks and Black Mountain, also invoking "dirges" reminiscent of both The Velvet Underground and the 13th Floor Elevators. The band's icon is a stylized image of Nico.

The Go! Team

The Go! Team are a Brighton, United Kingdom-based six piece band (with two drummers) whose songs are a mixture of action theme songs, cheerleader chants, noise-pop guitars and early hip-hop, with a hint of '70s funk. On record their songs are often pieced together largely from samples, although live the songs are performed mostly with live instruments. Founder Ian Parton, born in wales, was previously involved in a band called dig the slowness.

J Mascis and the Fog

J Mascis and The Fog is the post-Dinosaur Jr. musical project embarked by Dinosaur Jr.'s founding member, musician J Mascis. After fulfilling his contractual obligations to Blanco y Negro in the UK and Sire Records/Reprise Records in the US, Mascis holed up in his home studio in Amherst, MA, which he named Bob's Place after his pet bulldog. Recording 99% of the instruments on the recordings, he emerged from the studio with the first J Mascis and The Fog album, More Light, an album title inspired by Mascis' growing interest in "hugging saint" Ammachi.
