Distophia

Unfortunately, Distophia have decided to call it day. They will have a new band at some point in the future but Distophia is now officially over. This means that Distophia are not set to return this year with “Beat Dyslexia”, their debut full-length and the album the Birmingham-based noise-rock/lo-fi four-piece had always dreamed of making. Spurred on by the rise of the manufactured alternative and seeking to fight the encroaching apathy which genuinely left-field music currently experiences...

BRAIN DRAIN

Brain Drain is young punk/rock band from Czech Republic was started in September 2006. There is also an acoustic rock band from Germany named Brain Drain, founded in January 2005
and a bunch of bastards from Bratislava, Slovakia, playing grunge/metal shit, formed February 2007. The Brain Drain moniker is also used by an Australian one-man semi-improvised guitar based project.

Artist Type:

Thee Oh Sees

John Dwyer (of Coachwhips, Pink and Brown, Landed, Yikes, Burmese, The Hospitals, Sword & Sandals, Superpit, The Drums, The Trawgs, Zeigenbock Kopf and Dig That Body Up It's Alive!) is in Thee Oh Sees and he seems to be making this band the most serious project. He's done everything from noise to death metal to punk and now this.
Thee Oh Sees are no doubt the lightest of his excursions, but it also shows what may be his very essence. It's obvious that he loves music and wants to experience it all, touch every aspect, and give it all a go.

The Mantles

With the deceptively determined surge of a sleepy glacier, The Mantles have been quietly and slowly perfecting their trademarked dark n' dirge pop sound over the past few years. Starting as a trio, the band recorded their Dulc-i-Tone single with the mysterious & unreliable Cram-Ro production team. The band then dug themselves out of the Cram-Ro shit-morass for a batch of sunnier sounds courtesy Papercuts' Jason Quever, two songs of which make up their forthcoming Mt. St. Mtn single.

The Notes

The Notes are based in Southampton at the moment, studying at separate universities, the subjects being Popular Music and Record Production, and English. The band wrote and recorded these songs very recently in their living room using a drum machine, two guitars (1 pitch shifted), a voice and a pen. Tumblr blogger yvynyl has this to say about The Notes: "Take The XX’s slow, dark n’ sexy, turn up the tempo a notch, but keeps the lights low and the candles burning and you have London’s brand new band The Notes.

Artist Type:

Salva

There are multiple artists with this name: 1) "Paul Salva is a funky motherf-cker," says The Fader. Beyond those who already know this, the rest of the electronic music world is catching wind of the 29 year old producer, DJ, promoter and label boss. Already heralded by the Numbers, Ernest Endeavors and LuckyMe crews in the UK, the Low End Theory residents in LA and his own Frite Nite label/crew in SF, Salva is primed as he preps the release of his debut album, Complex Housing for the Friends of Friends (FoF Music) label.
