There are three bands named Quill: #1. Quill opened up the Saturday festivities at Woodstock in 1969, though some may say the real claim to fame for Jo Unk Khol (aka John Cole) is the sound effects he makes (uncredited) at the beginning of Andy Pratt's 1973 classic "Avenging Annie." The group's self-produced album is one of the better offerings from "The Bosstown Sound," as was Pratt's 1971 Polydor release Records Are Like Life.
1) Swedish Stoner rock/tango/country/punk rock act. From the ashes of legendary stonerrock act Ridge - who recieved 4K/ 5 in Kerrang for their debut album, Matadors have become a monster reactivating the rock industry! The band has existed since fall 2001, and when Andreas Bergström (vocals and Fender Telecaster Custom guitars) and Jonas Jönsson (drums, percussion, keys) accomplished with the bass player/singer Johan Anderberg from world famous Deranged and Murder Corporation, the band was completed.
Born and bred in Dallas, Texas, the members of Slowride compose an infectious punk sound similar to the likes of Jawbreaker and Pennywise. They're also rockers with a sweet side, deriving catchy fun melodies. The band — which is composed of Dan Phillips (guitar/vocals), Rob Marchant (bass), and Steve Visneau (drums) — hooked up with famed indie producer Ed Rose (Appleseed Cast, Brandtson, Get Up Kids) to record some songs for their Deep Elm debut in late 2001. The fruit of those sessions was As I Survive the Suicide Bomber, issued in February 2002.
