He was born in Lima, Peru and raised in Harlem, New York. Most of his lyrics focus on controversial issues in global politics. The views expressed in his lyrics are largely a mixture of socialist commentary on issues such as class hierarchy, poverty, religion, government and institutional racism.

Thomas Mapfumo (born 1945 in Marondera, Zimbabwe) is a Zimbabwean musician known as "The Lion of Zimbabwe" for his immense popularity and for the political influence he wields through his music. Pre-Independence, his songs openly called for the violent overthrow of the government, with lyrics like "Mothers, send your sons to war." Since the white government didn't understand Shona, however, at first they didn't realize how radical the songs were.
John Burton is a name of, at least, two audio artists: 1) London, UK's Leafcutter John, who débuted on Planet Mu (2000). He is strongly identified with processed instrumental & field recordings. His third album, "The Housebound Spirit" (Jul '03, Planet Mu), won one of Prix Ars Electronica 2004's thirteen 'honorary mentions' & placed in Wire's '2003 Rewind', top 50 records chart. Weaving together threads from old country, old blues, gospel, and rock & roll, McInroe creates an original tapestry of American roots music, earthy and lyric driven. In 2003, Keegan McInroe participated in founding rock & roll outfit, Catfish Whiskey (2003-2009), in Fort Worth, TX. After moving back to west Texas in 2008, McInroe released his first solo album, Mozelle, in 2009. From the Wall & In the City, his sophomore solo effort, was released in May 2010.
