The band's core members are Tim DeLaughter (lead vocals, guitar), Mark Pirro (bass) and Bryan Wakeland (drums), all former members of the alternative rock band Tripping Daisy. The band also contains 5 backing vocalists and 12 musicians. The band's lineup has generally been stable since their formation.

There are at least 5 bands named Fields: 1) Fields were an Anglo-Icelandic electronic/indie band formed in London comprising Nick Peill (Vocals/Acoustic Guitar/Keyboards), Þórunn Antonía (Vocals/Keyboards/Synths), Henry Spenner (Vocals/Drums), Matty Derham (Bass Guitar) and Jamie Putnam (Electric Guitar). In early 2006 the band played their first live shows. This sparked a furious bidding war amongst UK record companies. Have a Nice Life is a genre blending duo from Middletown, Connecticut, United States formed in the year 2000. It is the brainchild of Tim Macuga, black metal experimentalist in Nahvalr and songwriter for the classic Western Massachusetts hardcore band The Danger Strangers, and Dan Barrett, of the ghost music project Giles Corey and the now-defunct In Pieces. HANL released their first full-length record in January of 2008, a double-album entitled Deathconsciousness.
The Besnard Lakes are a progressive rock band from Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Formed by the husband and wife team of Jace Lasek and Olga Goreas. The band are currently a six-piece centered around the atmospheric songs of Lasek and Goreas, whose expansive sound culls from numerous aspects of rock 'n' roll history. It is completed by Kevin Laing, Steve Raegele, Nicole Lizee and Richard White. Their debut album, Volume I, was released in a limited 1000 copies edition in 2003 and later rereleased in October 2007.
