Disconcerts

Disconcerts formed in May 2007, but without this prior knowledge you could be easily deceived that they are from an era 30 years earlier where post-punk reigned the alternative scene. Rick Trust lays the quick beats whilst Alan Pilkington produces heavy basslines. With no fear of sharp objects, Hugo Hamper-Potts cuts into the songs with discorded riffs and vocal one-liners, which will make it difficult to refrain from addiction.

Joy of Life

Joy of Life formed in the early 1980's. Band members at that time were Gary Carey - Bass/Keyboards/Vocals, Peter Fordham - Vocals/Triangle, Trevor Martin - Guitar/Keyboards, Kevin Gregory - Drums/Percussion and Glenn Fenton - Guitar. A mini LP 'Enjoy' was recorded and released on NER (New European Recordings) circa 1984. Joy of Life's second recording an LP entitled 'Hear the Children' was released by the band when a recording deal with a not to be named Italian record label fell through. Both recordings were also released as a single CD by defunct German label Hyperium.

The Comsat Angels

The Comsat Angels formed in 1978 in Sheffield, England, playing a harsh but melodic post-punk sound, featuring slashing guitars alongside icy keyboards. Throughout their career they maintained a stable line-up of Steve Fellows (guitar and vocals), Kevin Bacon (bass guitar - not the Hollywood actor!), Andy Peake (keyboards) and Mic Glaisher (drums). In the autumn of their career, Kevin Bacon left the band and was replaced with Terry Todd on bass and Simon Anderson on guitars.

Chromatics

Chromatics originally hailed from Seattle as a quartet featuring vocalist Adam Miller, drummer Hannah Blilie, guitarist Devin Welch, and bassist Michelle Nolan. That lineup debuted in 2002 with a Calvin Johnson-produced 7" on Gold Standard Laboratories -- a split with Die Monitr Batss -- and followed with the similarly GSL-issued Chrome Rats Vs Basement Ruts LP. While Chrome Rats was critically hailed, Chromatics couldn't keep it together, and Miller was soon the only member in good standing (Blilie, Welch, and Nolan went on to form the similar-sounding Shoplifting).

Yellow Creatures

Yellow Creatures are a four piece from Newcastle Upon-Tyne with lashings of lean guitars, beastly bass, screeching organ and dastardly drums… They write compact and epic tales of cryogenically frozen men awaking in distant futures, dark black stormy seas and the troubleshooting section of the NES games console manual! Taking influence from rhythm and blues, psychedelic prog rock, alt pop and new wave they work to spread a musical world that’s as bright as butter and as thick and rich as a freshly...
