Scissor Sisters

Scissor Sisters are a five-piece American glam pop/disco band from New York. The band was formed in 2000 by lead vocalist Jake Shears (born Jason Sellards) and keyboardist/bass guitarist Babydaddy (born Scott Hoffman). The other members are Ana Matronic (born Ana Lynch), lead vocals, Del Marquis (born Derek Gruen), guitar, and Randy Real, drums - who replaced Paddy Boom after he parted from the band in 2008. The group was named after a sex position between two women. The lyrics of their songs, largely written by Shears and Babydaddy, are known for their mixture of wit and tragedy.

Nina Hagen

Catharina Hagen (born on March 11, 1955) is a singer from East Berlin, Germany. She's a daughter of well-known East German actress Eva-Maria Hagen and writer Hans Oliva-Hagen. They divorced 5 years later due to the rising success of Eva-Maria (called "East Germany's Brigitte Bardot") as an actress on stage and in films. When Catharina (Nina) was 10 years old Eva-Maria had a partnership with dissident song-writer Wolf Biermann (see links at the end).

Connan Mockasin

Connan Mockasin started as a "blues-pop" band from Wellington, New Zealand. The group consisted of Connan Hosford (vocals, guitar), Ross Walker (upright acoustic bass) and Seamus Ebbs (drums). In April-May 2006, the band released their second EP, Uuu It's Teasy, and toured New Zealand to promote the album. They played a fund-raising New Zealand show in Wellington on the 26th of May, 2006, before relocating to London on the 30th.

Paul Collins

Paul Collins was a founding member of The Nerves, a legendary underground rock group from 1974-77. (Other legendary rock groups formed in 1974, including Blondie, The Ramones, Radio Birdman and The Dictators). The Nerves were a 3-piece band featuring the talents of Jack Lee, Peter Case (The Plimsouls) and Paul Collins (The Beat). Aside from touring with The Ramones, The Nerves funded their own recordings without a record deal. The Nerves originally recorded the song Hanging On The Telephone, which was leter covered by Deborah Harry and Blondie on the chart topping "Parallel Lines" album.

Black 'N Blue

Black 'N Blue was a Heavy Metal band that was labeled to be the "next big thing" in the mid 80's, but despite having a loyal fan base, they never broke through commercially.
The group was formed by Jaime St. James (vocals), Tommy Thayer (guitar), Jeff Warner (guitar), Patrick Young (bass) and Pete Holmes (drums) in Portland, Oregon in 1981. By relocating to Los Angeles, they made their debut on the first Metal Massacre compilation with the song "Chains Around Heaven", before landing a major label deal.

Adler's Appetite

Adler's Appetite (originally called Suki Jones) is an American band formed in Los Angeles, California in 2003. Their original lineup consisted of singer Jizzy Pearl (Love/Hate, L.A. Guns), guitarist Keri Kelli (Big Bang Babies, Alice Cooper, Slash's Snakepit), bassist Robbie Crane (Ratt, Vince Neil) and drummer steven adler (Guns N' Roses). Their only release to date is the EP Adler's Appetite, released in 2005, however they mainly perform covers from the Guns N' Roses album Appetite for Destruction during live shows.

The Standells

The Standells were a 1960s rock and roll band from Los Angeles, California who, like The Seeds, exemplified the style. The band was formed in 1962 by lead singer/organist Larry Tamblyn and guitarist Tony Valentino. The Standells' first hit single was Dirty Water, which reached #11 on the Billboard charts on June 11, 1966. Multiple urban myths exist about the origins of "Dirty Water", which has become a Boston radio staple.

Lou Reed

Lou Reed (born March 2, 1942) is an American rock artist originally from Brooklyn, New York. Especially while a member of the The Velvet Underground in the 1960s, Reed broke new ground for the rock genre in several important dimensions, introducing more mature and intellectual themes to what was then considered a largely simplistic genre of music. Reed first found prominence as the guitarist and principal singer-songwriter of The Velvet Underground.
