Kinky

Kinky is a five member band from Monterrey, Mexico which consists of members Gilberto Cerezo, Ulises Lozano, Carlos Chairez, Omar Gongora, and Cesar Pliego. Their music is a mixture of rock, dance, and techno, but the Latin influence pours through each song. They sing mostly in Spanish but some of their songs contain lyrics in English. They are signed with Sonic360 Records. In the summer of 2002 they joined Cake, De La Soul, Flaming Lips, Hackensaw Boys, and Modest Mouse on the Unlimited Sunshine Tour in the U.

Los Cenzontles (“The Mockingbirds”) is a Latin Fusion and Roots band, heavily influenced by blues, Tejano music, country music, rock, and traditional Mexican regional music. The band's core members also operate a non-profit arts center, Los Cenzontles Mexican Arts Center, in San Pablo, California. The band, renown for their performances of traditional Mexican music have created an electrifying new fusion sound. The group brings together their musical influences using drums, electric bass, and guitars along side Mexican folk instruments like vihuela, jarana, pandero, and quijada (jawbone).

IMS, also known as Mexican Institute of Sound is Mexico City native Camilo Lara, whose music incorporates samples from Latin cinema and television as well as traditional rhythms such as Cumbia and Cha-Cha-Cha. Lara has collaborated on remixes for bands and friends such as Placebo, Gecko Turner, Perez Prado, Mazarin, Quantic Soul Orchestra, Gershon Kingsley, Irving Fields, Babasonicos, and Le Hammond Inferno.

Omara Portuondo (b. 1930) is a Cuban singer whose career has spanned over half a century. Portuondo was born in October 1930 in Havana, one of three sisters; her mother came from a wealthy Spanish family, and had created a scandal by running off with and marrying a black professional baseball player. Omara started her career in 1945 as a dancer at Havana's Tropicana Club (following her older sister, Haydee).
