Matt Holmes

From Derby, England, Matt Holmes was a young lead singer in the band, The Jelly Brothers in the late 80's & very early 90's. They supported bands like The Levellers, Carter USM & Snuff and made a good old racket. Then in the early 90's he sang in a techno-rock outfit, The Stance, later working as a professional songwriter / producer signing to Rondor Music (London) and later working with Autograph Music (Manchester).

Reviewed: 5th November 2005 This CD has been sat with me for a few weeks now, whilst people pile all sorts of crap on my desk, and I tend to direct it towards the nearest dustbin, this is one of the few CDs Ive had to review in about 6 months which is worth far more than a place in someones CD rack, clocking up the occasional listen, let alone, my computer desk.

3) a 4 piece female band from London (UK).
1) The Roads are a 5 piece band from Derby (UK) formed in late 2004. The current line-up is Tom Cambell (Vocals), Gavin Davies (Guitar), Gareth Davies (Guitar), Adam Ceney (Bass) and Dave Oliffe (Drums). In the beginning it was Gavin, Adam, and Dave who were joined by Ian Cauldwell on Vocals they performed around the Derby area releashing limited numbers of live tracks.

Elly Lucas

Elly Lucas (born 27 February 1991) is a folk singer / songwriter / string player from Derbyshire. She was a finalist of the BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Award 2011 as part of duo, David Gibb & Elly Lucas, whose debut album "Old Chairs To Mend" was released to widespread acclaim in March 2012. Elly also spent several years playing the fiddle for touring band, David Gibb & The Pony Club, playing festivals from Beautiful Days to Glastonbury.

Lightyear

Lightyear were a hugely popular ska punk band who blended elements of ska, pop, hardcore, punk and occaisionally hip hop who were probably best known for their intense live shows that regulaly saw members of the band (and unfortunately crowd) getting naked. Hailing from Derby and previously split up, they reformed briefly for the summer of 2006 in which they played a whirlwind UK tour which included both the Reading and Leeds carling festivals.
