There are 3 bands with the name Frail. 1) Frail was a highly influential early emotional hardcore band from Pennsylvania. They existed in the 90's, but have since broken up. 2) Frail is a five member band from Jyväskylä, Finland. Formed in autumn 2002 by singer-guitarist Tarmo and keyboard player Jukka, the band has already had many great achievements, including a sold out self-titled EP released in 2003.
1. Voices is an ecclectic psychedelic improvisation free-form art/music/performance project sprouting out of Berkeley/Oakland, CA consisting of the collaborative efforts of Travis Wyche and Alejandro Magana. What started out as a couple of friends getting together to elevate minds and disseminate sounds in a moldy Oakland basement quickly evolved into a solidified ritual for melding and extruding complimentary abstract ideals through sound.
Sweet Honey in the Rock is an all-woman, African-American a cappella ensemble that has been producing music for more than thirty years. Although the members of the group have changed over time, the music of Sweet Honey in the Rock has consistently combined contemporary rhythms and narratives with a musical style rooted in the gospel music, spirituals and hymns of the Black church. Sweet Honey in the Rock was founded in 1973 by Bernice Johnson Reagon who formed the group out of the strongest singers from a vocal workshop she was teaching with the D.
A movement of friends is a hard thing to package. When something happens locally that is real and sincere, it probably doesn't need the hype that the music industry can sometimes bring. The Rend Collective Experiment started in 2004 as a group of confused 20 somethings trying to figure out life, God and community. Then in 2007 it grew into a collective of musicians and artists trying to share with the world what they were learning.
