Calvin Johnson

Calvin Johnson is a guitarist, vocalist and founding member of the bands Cool Rays, Beat Happening, The Go-Team, Dub Narcotic Sound System, and The Halo Benders. He is known for his uniquely deep, droning singing voice. Johnson was born in Olympia, Washington. He has worked with Beck, Heavenly, The Microphones, Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, and Built to Spill among others. He has also produced recordings by many bands. Calvin Johnson is the founder of K Records in Olympia, Washington, and was one of the major organizers of the seminal International Pop Underground Festival.

Karl Blau

Karl Blau is a musician based in Anacortes, Washington and member of the Knw-Yr-Own/K Records collective. He is very prolific and releases music through a monthly subscription service called Kelp Monthly. He has played in D+, Brothers Blau, Captain Fathom, Your Heart Breaks and has collaborated extensively with Phil Elverum (The Microphones/Mount Eerie). He also tours and records with Laura Veirs.

The Blow

The Blow is Khaela Maricich, from Portland, Oregon. The band was a duo until Jona Bechtolt left to pursue his own project, Yacht, full time. The two had been working together as The Blow since 2004, when they recorded a limited edition EP called Poor Aim: Love Songs.
"Blow" is also the name of a Melbourne-based jazz group which Last.fm automatically scrobbles as "The Blow".

Mirah Yom Tov Zeitlyn was born September 17, 1974, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and has released a number of albums under the K Records label. She has collaborated with her close friend Phil Elvrum of The Microphones and has also worked extensively with The Black Cat Orchestra. Mirah is the youngest of three children and lived in Bala Cynwyd, a suburb of Philadelphia for most of her childhood. She then moved to Olympia, Washington and attended The Evergreen State College. She is modest and deliberate, prefers privacy to invasion and reconciliation to war.

Lois

Having picked up a second-hand guitar in 1985, and learning from Calvin Johnson, Lois Maffeo's first band was Lumihoops, with Sharon Berman and Jan Brock. They only played live once, at the Smithfield Cafe, but can be heard on the Yoyo Recordings compilation Throw.
Her second band, The Cradle Robbers, was formed with future The Spinanes member Rebecca Gates. They released one track on the compilation Red Hot + Bothered/Indie Rock Guide To Dating before disbanding.
