Marija "Muska" Babitzin (28th June 1952, Helsinki) is a Finnish singer. She is the daughter of a musical Russian emigrant family, and her brothers are Kirka and Sammy Babitzin. Her biggest hits include songs "Kirjoita postikorttiin" (1971) and "Krokotiili rock" (1973).
Sonata Arctica was formed in 1996 on the edge of the world, in the northern Finnish town of Kemi. Originally was formed as Tricky Beans, they released few demos and as they got the contract they had to change their name.
In 1999 the band recorded a new demo "FullMoon" in Tico Tico Studios located in their hometown, Kemi. At the time of recording the line-up consisted of: Tony (vocals/keys), Jani (guitars), Tommy (drums), and Janne (bass).
Uniko is a seven-part work composed by Pohjonen and Kosminen which had its World Premiere concert with Kronos Quartet at the prestigious Helsinki Festival in 2004. Subsequent Uniko performances took place in Moscow, Norway and eventually led to its North American Premiere with three sold-out concerts at the BAM NEXT WAVE Festival in New York in 2007. Uniko was recorded at Avatar Studios in NYC immediately following the BAM concerts with production by Iceland’s Valgeir Sigurdsson, known for his work with Björk and others.

Formed in Helsinki, Finland in 2008. Black Twig builds on the tradition of jangly, distorted rhythm music. The sound echoes of modern fuzzed out pop experiments as well as of 60s garage rock gems, sometimes developing into hypnotic, repetitive drones. Brother Firetribe is an Album Oriented Rock (AOR) band formed in 2002 in Finland. They describe their music as easy going rock. The band was originally called False Metal, but they changed their name to Brother Firetribe; however, the album is called ‘False Metal’. They take their name from an in-joke as a perfect description for their music is ‘tennis heavy’ and the name of a well known Finnish tennis player Veli Paloheimo translates into English as ‘Brother Firetribe’. The album title ‘False Metal’ comes from a slogan coined by heavy metal group Manowar, ‘Death to False Metal’.

There are four bands with the name "Playground": 1) There used to be a Finnish band named "Playground" that sadly quit in the late nineties. They released a demo tape near 2000. Their lead singer Marko "Mark" Saaresto is now the lead singer of Poets of the Fall. Playground had little commercial success but it is loved by thousands of dedicated fans of Marko's unique vocals and the music that in some parts lives on in POTF. 2) Playground is a French rock duo (Firouz Farman and Dino Trifunovic) that is best known for the disco-rock hit they released in 2003, called 1994.
Esa-Pekka Salonen (born June 30, 1958 in Helsinki) is a prominent Finnish orchestral conductor and composer. He is currently chief conductor and music director of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the orchestra with which he made his US debut in 1984.
