Gong Linna

Gong Linna (chin. 龚琳娜, born 1975) is a Chinese singer. She studied at the China Conservatory of Music in Peking. In 2000 she was awarded "best singer" at the Chinese National Singing Competition. Gong Linna was born in Guiyang, Guizhou province (located in the Southwest of China). She first appeared on stage at the age of five. Since her early childhood she knew that she wanted to become a professional singer.

Seraph

Seraph was formed august 1996 by Christian Kalns (ex–Dying Angel) and Michael Kainberger (ex–Decorum). In Andreas Haas (Guitar), Dietmar Matzek (Bass guitar and Hannes Vordermayer they soon found proper brothers in arms. Shortly afterwards Dietmar found out that this was not his kind of music and was replaced by Manuel Inhester in september 1996. In March 1997 they had their first gig in the Rochkhouse Salzburg. In the middle of 1997 Seraph parted with Andreas Haas. Further gigs followed. 1998/99 the cd-debut "Strong Impressions" was recorded.

Subs

There are at least three artists with the name Subs. 1) An up-and-coming Belgian electro outfit; see The Subs 2) At the centre of the China’s burgeoning rock scene is Beijing, and at the centre of the capital city’s rock scene is another Subs, whose screaming garage-punk rock is the most sought after live experience in the country. Subs have risen quickly through the rock ranks based on their riotous live sets that are explosions of pure energy rare to the Middle Kingdom.

Proximity Butterfly

Proximity Butterfly, Psychedelic / Punk / Rock from Chengdu (China), started in August 2003 by Joshua C. Love and Heather Judson. A full fledge orchestrated Mars volta-style entourage, PB is now far from their first album, arcana with two drummers, sound effect personas, saxaphone/clarinet/trumpet, bass, and guitar. Preparing for the release of "The Antikythera Mechanism" PB has stepped off of the ground to hit China's nationwide music festival scene from Shanghai to Chengdu and Inner Mongolia to shows in the hottest clubs and bars around the nation.

Cheng Yu

Born in Beijing China, Cheng Yu is well-known pipa soloist. At 13, she won the Chinese National Youth Competition of Traditional Music Instrument Performances and, in 1981, was admitted the Xian Conservatory of Music to continue her pipa studies and also to study the guqin. She moved to the UK in 1988 where she has performed with many organizations and co-founded the UK Chinese Ensemble. In 2004, she completed her PhD on the ancient music of Xi'an at the University of London.

THE BELIEVERS sophomore album Crashyertown was released in April 2005 to critical acclaim and spent 16 straight weeks in the top 20 of the Americana Music Association chart. More acclaim followed overseas when Crashyertown hit #1 on the Euro-Americana chart - being chosen as album of the week on many BBC shows including the legendary Bob Harris Country Program. Back in the States THE BELIEVERS hopped in their vintage Serro Scotty trailer and began a North American tour that would span 7 months.
