Paul Greene (Culburra Beach, NSW) has been a quiet achiever in the Australian Music Scene. The Heartless Bastards' story starts in Dayton, Ohio, where Wennerstrom found the name on a multiple choice video trivia game at a bar. As a songwriting teenager during a time when Guided by Voices and Brainiac were packing local bars and three of The Breeders were still in town, Wennerstrom used to sneak into clubs to check out the scene. "I would just see those people—my music heroes—hanging out at the bar like everyone else," she remembers. "I could see myself in them. It gave me inspiration to do my own thing."

Robin Esmond Scott (born 1 April 1947, Croydon, London), lead singer and founder of a music project he called M, is a singer originally from the United Kingdom. His career encompasses four decades. He grew up in the South London suburb of Croydon, and after leaving school enrolled at Croydon Art college, where he met Malcolm McLaren in the late 1960s. Scott befriended him and fashion guru Vivienne Westwood (with whom he was to collaborate ten years later).

The Brisbane-born Shane Nicholson is an accomplished singer-songwriter with four critically acclaimed albums under his name - "It's A Movie", "Faith & Science'", "Familiar Ghosts" and "Bad Machines" - and a best-selling duet album, "Rattlin' Bones", with wife Kasey Chambers under the name Kasey Chambers & Shane Nicholson. He also released 2 EPs and an album with his former band Pretty Violet Stain, who broke up in 2001.
