Smoke or Fire

Smoke or Fire is an American punk rock band from Boston, Massachusetts. The band originally formed in 1998, when western Massachusetts natives Joe McMahan (lead vocals and guitar) and Jeremy Cochran (guitar) got together with fellow Boston University students Ken Gurley (bass) and Nick Maggiore (drums), hailing from New Hampshire. Originally calling themselves Jericho, the boys released their debut album, When the Battery Dies, in 2000. Their fan base grew as they played DIY basement shows and small clubs throughout the Northeast.

Custard

1. Custard were a masterful band of pop craftsmen with an uncanny grasp of the two-minute-something single who seemed to have equal amounts of Devo, Pavement and, oddly, disco in their genetic makeup. They were also blessed with singer Dave McCormack, whose voice was innocent and boyish-sounding enough to get away with things that might ordinarily cause a fuss – from songs about speed labs to geeky dedications to Jim Henson and an infamous declaration that “music is crap”.

Danimals

“With roots in pop, r&b and atmospheric electronica (think Stereolab and Prefuse 73), Danimals are as fun as they are interesting.” Online Guru

Danimals send reverb-soaked, summery vocals, layered and looped over and over, with strong groove rhythms and playful accents of quirky R&B pop. Initially they hold your attention because of their charm, but the longer you listen, the more the nuanced, developed production shines through.

Bunny Monroe

Sex Appeal without the gimmicks - these girls don't need to rely on common girl-band cliches to get their message across. The show speaks for itself, and songs of debauchery and mayhem are more biographical than hypothetical. Five girls who came together through Melbournes best RnR venue, Cherry Bar, unwittingly form the sexiest "paint-melting" lineup since The Runaways. More than just pretty faces, Bunny Monroe deliver fast, chaotic balls-to-the-walls (or should that be boobs to the walls?) rock music and a wild live show - the Girls wanna be her and the boys.
