The Downliners Sect

The Downliners Sect was a British rhythm and blues band of the beat boom era, formed in 1963 when the existing Downliners band split up. Stylistically, they were similar to The Yardbirds, The Pretty Things and the Rolling Stones, playing basic R & B on their first album "The Sect". They subsequently modified their musical style, and after an EP of 'sick' songs (eg 'I want my Baby Back') they experimented with both country ("The Country Sect") and rock ("Rock Sect's In").

Jona Lewie

After being a member of the amateur group Dramatis Personae while still at school, Jona Lewie (born John Lewis) started in the music business as a session pianist, before joining the cult pub rock band, Brett Marvin & The Thunderbolts, in the late 1960s. The group was a popular live act for several years, but their only mainstream hit single was "Seaside Shuffle" (1972), released under the one-off nom de disque Terry Dactyl & The Dinosaurs.

Ducks Deluxe

If the old scientific adage is true -- that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction -- then British pub rockers Ducks Deluxe were purely and simply a reaction. With the mid-'70s English pop scene dominated by glitter/glam rockers like Gary Glitter and Sweet or blustery, chops-heavy art rockers like Yes, Jethro Tull, and Genesis, then Ducks Deluxe represented none of the above. One of the first pub rock bands, the Ducks played basic American-style blues and boogie with remarkable panache and thorough disregard for the whims of the zeitgeist.

Dr. Feelgood

Dr. Feelgood formed in 1971. The classic line-up included Lee Brilleaux (b. 1953, d. 7 April 1994; vocals/harmonica), Wilko Johnson (b. John Wilkinson, 1947; guitar), John B. Sparks (b. 1953; bass) and John 'The Big Figure' Martin. Initially based in Canvey Island, Essex, on the Thames estuary, Dr. Feelgood broke into the London circuit in 1974. Brilleaux's menacing personality complemented Johnson's propulsive, jerky stage manner, while the guitarist's staccato style dominated the group's idiosyncratic brand of angular rhythm and blues.

Graham Parker

Graham Parker (born November 18, 1950 in London) is an English rock singer and songwriter.
Life and career
In the late 1960s and early 1970s, Graham Parker sang in small-time English bands such as the Black Rockers and Deep Cut Three while working in dead-end jobs at a glove factory and a petrol station. In 1975, he recorded a few demo tracks in London with Dave Robinson, who would shortly found Stiff Records and who connected Parker with his first backing band of note.

The Temps

Hot and sweaty rock and roll - the kind that has sounded at home everywhere from the front bar of the local to the world's largest arenas since the 70's. The Temps are its latest exponents, and though they mightn't be rockin' stadiums just yet, you might've been lucky enough to catch them bringing their original dose of classic hard rock to any one of Adelaide's finest live music venues after they formed in 2006.

Man

There is more than one artist with this name: 1) Man are a rock band from South Wales with a cult following. Originally the second incarnation of Welsh rock harmony group The Bystanders, they are a band with 'more history than the Greeks', who are celebrating their 40th anniversary this year. Man's history is full of weird, colourful stories. Some stories include getting arrested in Belgium on both of their visits, brawling with an Icelandic audience, meeting the likes of Tommy Cooper and Bill Graham, their many line-ups, and so on.

Matchbox

Matchbox is a British rock and roll band formed in 1971 and still active as of 2006. Since 1978, the lineup consists of Graham Fenton (lead vocalist), Steve Bloomfield (lead guitar, vocals) (ex The Count Four), Gordon Scott (rhythm guitar) (ex The Rocking Phenmonia, The Cruisers), Fred Poke (bass) (ex Contraband), and Jimmy Redhead (drums) (ex The Cruisers, Contraband). The original line-up was Graham Fenton, Steve Bloomfield, Fred Poke, Wild Bob Bugros drums and Rusty Lupton rhythm guitar. Redhead left in 1973 and later Wiffle Smih lead vocalist joined.
