The Turning

There are two bands currently called "The Turning"
One being a Christian Rock band from America, The other, a Indie /Britpop band from Shetland, Scotland. 1)The Turning got its start when, after several years of playing worship music in their home churches, Chattanooga, Tenn. residents Matt Warren, Jeff Goff and Jeremy Little decided to try their hand at modern rock. The three set to work creating bass/drum/electric guitar tracks that were musically gripping, and the songs they crafted would make perfect sense alongside everything from Delirious to Foo Fighters to Switchfoot.

String Driven Thing

Back in the 70's, when there was no MTV, real music fans went 'underground' digging for gold, and found bands like String Driven Thing. Fronted by Glaswegians Chris & Pauline Adams, they were part of the famed Charisma stable, alongside Genesis, Lindisfarne & Van Der Graaf Generator and by the time they split in ‘74, they'd released three cult albums, the last of which, 'The Machine That Cried' was hailed at the time as a “staggering achievement” by the Guardian’s rock critic, Martin Walker.

Artist Type:

Motörhead

Motörhead are a British heavy metal band formed in London in 1975 by bassist, singer and songwriter Lemmy, who has remained the sole constant member. The band was part of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal, which re-energised heavy metal in the late '70s and early '80s by adding influences from punk rock such as speeding up the tempo and toughening up the sound. Motörhead was unique in its hard blues-based sound and appreciation for old rock and roll along with its overwhelmingly loud and fast style of heavy metal.

The Skuzzies

The Skuzzies are a band from London, England. They are handled by the great author Nina Antonia. This band has that sound, the English in face kick in the arse that is so needed in music today. Their first singles I believe came out on the Framingo Record Label out of Scotland.

Artist Type:

the Original Conspiracy

The Original Conspiracy deliver belting tunes drowned in distortion but with eloquent melodies and a refreshing honesty. Blamed in certain circles for the lack of sunshine in last year’s summer, it is often rumoured that the heat, intensity and energy of the sun was wrapped up deep in a rehearsal room somewhere in 'the North', being used to create the superb single-malt blend of dirty funk, snarling rock and epic hooks.

The Auteur

"Everything you have ever heard but a bit better and a bit more English." That's the confident claim made by Brighton's The Auteur on their thriving online community – and only a band with the songs and live show to back up such a statement could pull it off. Fortunately, the band have both - and are quickly generating a real buzz around their electro-tinged powerpop, creating waves within a scene dominated by American artists.
