Beneath The Oak

Biography: Beneath The Oak started as a jam between Paul Wale and a couple of friends from an old Black Sabbath influenced rock band at the begining of 2007. They played their first gig at the Black Swan in York. Since then Beneath the Oak has played many gigs and has seen a few different incarnations! Now Paul has teamed up with singer-songwriter Aimie J Ryan, and very recently bassist Mark Waters to form the current line up.

Broadcast 2000

Broadcast 2000 sees Joe Steer combine cello, double bass, guitar, ukulele, glockenspiel, banjo, percussion and his own layered vocals to create unique sounding mini symphonies, all written and recorded in the bedroom of his north London flat.

Goodnight Owl can lead the way in two directions, an embrace of the dawn, or an adventure into the dark. Make it what you will, Central Australian born Eddie Alexander has developed his song writing to take the listener on a journey lyrically and musically.

Bruno Merz

Alternative folk, indie, singer/songwriter Bruno Merz was born in New Zealand. He has lived in France and the Netherlands and currently resides in the United Kingdom. Bruno Merz started posting a few home-recorded songs online and word quickly began to spread thorughout the world. He has been compared to the likes of Nick Drake, Iron and Wine and Sufjan Stevens due to the breathy, intimate nature of the vocals and the deeply personal songs. Notably, the song, 'Nine Sixteen' was chosen as Starbucks Pick of the Week and was distributed throughout the U.S. as a free iTunes download.

Scenic Routes

Gary Halmkan has been a singer/songwriter/performing artist for many years standing. In early 2000 he lived in Slovakia where he recorded an album with some of the best local musicians, which then led to a tour of Slovakia and the Czech Republic. Returning to Brighton (England) in 2004 with his wife to be (Livia Smiesna, accordion player). Together they formed the nucleus of what would later become the band Scenic Routes. Taking as their inspiration the musical traditions heard by them on their travels throughout Eastern Europe.
