New band of the day

East India Youth

East India Youth - is actually one young man. William Doyle, a 22-year-old multi-instrumentalist from Bournemouth, who cut his teeth in an indie group called Doyle & The Fourfathers while still a teenager. Their demo was rinsed by Marc Riley on BBC 6 Music and they completed a couple of tours with the Undertones, but the frontman was already growing tired of the band format and frustrated with the slow progress of the group.

Pygmy Globetrotters

Pygmy Globetrotters are Richard Owen and Ian Turley. “Pygmy Globetrotters, equal parts ‘Born Slippy’ era Underworld meets Crystal Castles” NME “Cutting-edge machine beats, on vibrating, subsonic bass riffs, spindly synth riffs and the dark, diseased imaginings of two boys cut off from it all, cast adrift 150 miles from the mundane, media mainstream” The Guardian
“Pygmy Globetrotters are using junk-shop keyboards and cheap laptops to offer a digital update of budget analogue pop.” The Sunday Times Magazine

Virals

Virals is the latest project from Shaun Hencher, last seen fronting the much-loved Dionysian punks, Lovvers. Following the less than dramatic demise of that band, Virals offers a new beginning and see's Shaun predominately writing, playing and recording on his own. And with that new beginning comes a fresh approach to songwriting that takes cues from the sunshine vibe of certain American states yet retaining a suitably English feel.

Sam Beeton

Coming from a large extended family of "musicalists" and singers, most of my junior was spent bearing witness to the songs, the harmony and the real adventures that singin" and strummin" could afford. So before long and long before the Government felt it was time for me to be properly educated - I already had been; because around about this time, The Beatles came along like a gale force wind blowing past a news stand, flicking through every page along the way.
