Simon Bolivar Youth Orchestra Of Venezuela

The Orquesta Sinfónica Simón Bolívar (Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra) is a Venezuelan youth orchestra. The economist José Antonio Abreu established the orchestra on 12 February 1975. The orchestra is under the auspices of Fundacion del Estado para el Sistema Nacional de las Orquestas Juveniles e Infantiles de Venezuela, known colloquially as El Sistema. The orchestra is based at the Teresa Carreño Cultural Complex in Caracas and is considered the apex of the nation's system of 220 youth orchestras.

Gustavo Dudamel

Gustavo Adolfo Dudamel Ramírez (born January 26, 1981) is a Venezuelan conductor. Born in Barquisimeto Venezuela, he is presently the principal conductor of Sweden's Gothenburg Symphony as well as the Orquesta Sinfónica Simón Bolívar. In September 2009 he will become the new Music Director of the Los Angeles Philharmonic. He has been described by the New York Times as "one of the hottest — and youngest — conducting properties around.

Aged eight she made her concerto debut with the Venezuelan Youth Orchestra conducted by José Antonio Abreu and was granted a scholarship from the Venezuelan government to study in the USA. At twelve she won the Baldwin National Competition and AMSA Young Artist International Piano Competition, performing Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No.1 with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra.
