Omar S

Omar-S is the latest man of mystery from Detroit. His records are low key minimal dirty house music, usually issued only on white label with handwritten info. His love for the music is quite evident from the deep emotional tracks he writes. His music is indebted to tracky Chicago house, dirty Detroit house, and of course Detroit techno.

Motor City Drum Ensemble

Danilo Plessow is a hard man to pigeonhole. Since 2003, he's been producing broken beat and jazzier material with Joachim Tobias under the Inverse Cinematics banner. Their debut full-length Passin' Through was released this year, but there's another reason why people have been talking about Plessow in 2008. He's the man that's responsible for the Motor City Drum Ensemble project, producing music which seems to encapsulate the spirit of Detroit despite being made in Stuttgart - a place that is considered Germany's own 'motor city'.

Artist Type:

Meschi

Located in London UK, Meschi appears to operate on the fringes of the local scene. He's seemingly ever present but purposefully chooses to keep a low profile. His vast knowledge covers the wide range of all music including, but not exclusive to: avant-garde rock, ambient noises, deep techno and wonky electro. But in the end, genres are of little consequence as he puts together refreshing mixes which hold the highest musical pedigrees.

DJ Funk

What words can describe the one and only DJ Funk? Pioneer? Party Rocker? Ghetto House Icon? Let's start at the beginning, DJ Funk grew up on the musically rich West Side of Chicago where he was exposed at an early age to Chicago, New York & Detroit dance music. Developing from his early influences he started DJing out when he was just a teenager at house parties, school dances, and neighborhood clubs; selling mix tapes in the hood with his former crew "do or die" to make ends meet.
