Wooden Boy

Wooden Boy are a three-piece rock band from the Midlands, UK who burst onto the music scene in 2006. Bringing in a wide range of influences, from the post-grunge of Queens of the Stone Age to the raw aggression of At The Drive-In, they have been kicking up quite a storm over the past year. After winning over fans at the Hell's Angels' annual Bulldog Bash festival two years running, sharing the stage with bands such as Fun Loving Criminals and The Wild Hearts, Wooden Boy were quickly approached by promotions companies to appear at Rock Off, at the O2 Academy, Islington.

Shimmy Rivers and And Canal

Shimmy Rivers and and Canal formed in a rush with five people, none of whom are still members or are in fact known to any of the current line up. Shimmy Rivers and and Canal started in error and continued thereafter. As the unformed band disbanded further, a drunken barmaid put a CD in the post which had nothing to do with Shimmy Rivers and and Canal, but for some reason had their name on it. Ed Baxter, head of Resonance FM took to the sound of that CD like a duck to whatever, and spectacularly asked to release it, just so he could hand out copies to anyone he liked.
