Naya Rivera was born on January 12, 1987 and was raised primarily in Valencia, California. Her ethnic background is personally described as, ”… Half Puerto-Rican, a quarter German, and a quarter African-American.” Her mother named her Naya after a mermaid on 1970’s American TV Show, Fantasy Island.
