Mats Gustafsson

Mats Gustafsson (born 1964 in Umeå) is a Swedish saxophone player and a stalwart on the Scandinavian free jazz scene. He first came to the attention of lovers of improvised music as part of a duo with Christian Munthe (started in 1986) and the band Gush (started in 1988). He has later played widely with musicians such as Peter Brötzmann, Joe McPhee, Paul Lovens, Barry Guy and Derek Bailey. Since the early 1990s, Mats Gustafsson has been a regular visitor to the U.S.

There at least two artist by the name of India, one from the United States and one from the United Kingdom. 1) A highly-emotive approach to Latin music has led to Puerto Rico-born and Bronx, New York-raised La India (born: Linda Viera Caballero) being dubbed, "The Princess of Salsa." Her 1994 album, Dicen Que Soy, spent months on the Latin charts. While known for her Salsa recordings, India started out recording Freestyle w/ her debut album Breaking Night in 1990 as well as lending her vocals to many house classics.

Topp Twins

The Topp Twins are the folk singing sister comedy duo of New Zealand entertainers Jools and Lynda Topp. They are known for their country music influenced style, live shows and television performances. They are openly lesbian. They often perform as characters, the most notable being the cross-dressing "Ken and Ken", and "Camp Mother and Camp Leader".

Lalah Hathaway

Lalah Hathaway is a contemporary R&B/Jazz singer and the daughter of soul legend Donny Hathaway. After studying at Berklee, Hathaway signed with Virgin Records and released her self titled debut, Lalah Hathaway, in 1990. The set spawned 4 R&B Hits, including the Top 5 smash Heaven Knows. Her 1994 follow up, A Moment, did less well, and Hathaway parted ways with Virgin. She went on to work with many other established artists, including Take 6, Mary J. Blige and Marcus Miller, writing, producing and doing background vocals.

Joakim & the Disco

Joakim is a major figure of French modern electronic music. Multi talented and well cultivated, he has released two audacious albums on Versatile Records (Tigersushi in 1999 and Fantomes in 2003) and founder of Label and Proteinic website Tigersushi. Joakim Bouazziz has always been involved in music. He learned piano at age six, with master concertist Abdel Rahman El Bacha. During his teenage years he discovers indie rock and appreciates labels such as Warp and Mo Wax.

The former Stairs bassist/vocalist Edgar Jones brings you his latest offering; Edgar Jones and the Joneses. This is a band that you know when you've heard, bringing the old fashioned and back into the picture with songs such as More Than You've Ever Had. Comparable artists include: James Brown, Dr John, Gil Scott Heron, Toussaint, to name but a few influences that you can hear thrown into Edgar's y mix. MySpace. Terrie Hessels and Andy Moor, guitars; Paal Nilssen-Love on drums, Ken Vandermark plays tenor sax and Bb clarinet They play completely improvised music that combines the freer elements of the Ex with the thorough communication developed in the years that Nilssen-Love and Vandermark have worked together; everything put into a hard edged groove kaleidoscope.
