Born on the 3rd of April 1970 in Amsterdam, Marco Greven began spinning records at the tender age of 15. His musical tastes are eclectic, from Mantronix, Boogie Down Productions to U2, Depeche Mode and The Talking Heads....In 1988 he started spinning Acid-House, and branched out to varying styles, from New York house to Detroit techno and Ambient; and in 1992 finally bought his first set of Technics SL-1200's, and thus began a DJ career. DJ Griff has been on and off the turntables for over 20 years now.

Having been inspired by trips to Detroit's legendary Music Institute and Chicago's Shelter, where he saw Richie Hawtin, Derrick May and Derrick Carter respectively, Dave started his own night in Nottingham (Ask Yer Dad) in the early '90's and was one of the first clubs to book guests who shared Dave's vision of house and techno such as John Aquaviva, Josh Wink, and the aforementioned Derrick Carter.

With initial breakthrough bookings in and around Newcastle, he quickly expanded onto a national platform. With residencies at Promise, Come Together and backing from hard house label Energy UK. Mark Maitland has all off a sudden become notable face on the Hard Dance circuit. With dates that have included “Godkitchen’s” mighty Arena tour in 2004, “Vicious Circle” and “Frantic” rooms @ Come Together Events, “GoodGreef” @ Tall Trees, and Newcastle infamous “Quality”.
