Low Low Low La La La Love Love Love

Low Low Low La La La Love Love Love is an ever-evolving UK-based outfit. Over six years and through a shifting construct, they’ve employed varied approaches to writing and recording. But amidst changes, some constants have remained; a stark lyricism, thoughtful arrangements and complementary, harmonic vocals which glimmer and tremble throughout. Following their 2004 self-titled debut and the evocative "Ends of June" (Other Electricities, 2007), "Feels, Feathers Bog and Bees" is their third album.

Apples For Everyone

Apples For Everyone are a London based folk punk band whose sound takes the eclecticism of Arcade Fire, the passion of Bright Eyes and the playful melodic strength of Madness. Band influences range from indie to ska, blues to folk, motown to trance. Unwilling to succumb to the standard four-piece indie set up, instruments played include trumpet, violin, flute and bagpipes. Their 14 members occupy the stage, swapping instruments and dancing amongst the audience. No topic is out of bounds for the group’s 7 songwriters; love, sex, death and plate tectonics are all given airtime.

French for Rabbits

French for Rabbits are a dreamy alt-folk duo from Wellington, New Zealand. Their songs, often awash in nautically themed language, tell delicate stories of longing and regret. For the uninitiated, their music is reminiscent of dream-folk troubadours Marissa Nadler and Alela Diane or perhaps an acoustic Mazzy Star. Brooke Singer, who previously played in the much-loved Ragamuffin Children folk band and the shoegaze outfit The O’Lovelys, and jazz guitarist John Fitzgerald, formed the duo in 2011 after they both graduated from university.

Christy & Emily

"Comprised of a self-taught indie rocker and a classically trained pianist, Christy Edwards and Emily Manzo (aka Christy & Emily) formulated their brooding, spare, atmospheric blend of indie rock and alternative country-rock in Brooklyn in the early 2000s. Manzo was trained at the Oberlin Conservatory prior to playing in the duo, and was beginning to make a name for herself in the New York classical world by the time she teamed up with Edwards courtesy of her collaboration with video artist Paul Rowley on an interpretation of the works of John Cage.

Dolbro Dan

Dolbro Dan (or Daniel Mulligan) is a guy from Bangor, Northern Ireland who likes to sing, draw, write, read, party and meditate. In 2007 Dan took his scrapbook of notes and bedroom melodies into the studio and paying homage to That great sixties folk icon, he recorded a humble debut of twelve originals - aptly named Singin' Homemade Music. This stripped-down, self-produced album is a potent mix of sharp wit and honest emotion, delivered in a retro American folk style with a post-punk aftertaste.

J. Tillman

After dropping out of college in New York, Josh Tillman (b. 1981) moved to Seattle and spent a year paying rent by freelance writing and donating plasma. Befriending Eric Fisher (Damien Jurado, Rosie Thomas) while on tour in the fall on 2004, Tillman coerced him into recording what would become " I Will Return," a full-length reminiscent of the southern-gothic writings of Flannery O'Conner and the music of Nick Drake and Pete Seeger.
