Pete Molinari

Pete Molinari is a folk blues singer/songwriter from Chatham, England, of Egyptian/Maltese parentage. Walking Off The Map is his first release, recorded live on half track in Billy Childish's kitchen - which is how Billy's wife came to sing on Alone And Forsaken and duets with Pete on his great tune We Belong Together. Pete has been playing solo for five years, honing his unique vocal style playing bars and cafes of New York's East Village as well as his home town of Chatham.

Starless & Bible Black

Starless & Bible Black are a Manchester based new-folk band with a French Singer. Their self-title debut lp was released in October 2006. The band's name originates with a line from Dylan Thomas's Under Milk Wood, via a tune by British Jazz pianist Stan Tracey and a King Crimson lp title. The band's line-up is-

Lisa Knapp

Vocalist and fiddler player Lisa Knapp grew up in London, fed on a music diet which lurched from house to dance to pop, through The Waterboys to Van Morrison, finally landing her in the unlikely environs of folk music by way of a friend’s record collection. What followed were several years of musical exploration which included countless days rediscovering recordings and books of traditional singers and songs from early 20th century through to the folk revival of the ‘60s and ‘70s, by way of the folk music archives at Cecil Sharp House in Camden.

Sweet Baboo

Sweet Baboo a.k.a Stephen Black formulated in the hills of North Wales some 10 or 11 years ago, initially as a way to impress girls and to waste Sundays. Locked inside his parents’ loft he would noodle and tinkle with his Casio keyboard, a 10 pound Tandy microphone, a little four track recorder and his father’s guitar. Arctic Circle

Beginning in Edinburgh in 1999, Arctic Circle, now based in Bristol, were formed by Matthew Cheney, a singer/songwriter steeped in psychedelic folk and early 90s electronic sounds. With a fluctuating line-up, a sideline in social politics and establishing The Forest Cafe in Edinburgh, Cheney turned down label offers and set about managing the band himself, bringing in visual and collaborative art components. The songs remained acute observations about urban planning, social dynamics, instrumentals about natural Arctic phenomena and communication in relationships.

Eugene Francis Jnr

Kris Williams is a British singer-songwriter, born in Wales on International Women's day (March 8th, 1977). His childhood involved no heavy upheavals, but frequent holidays abroad. Numerous times in interviews he has discussed a close family upbringing based around devoted parents: a scientific father and a religious mother. He often states that his music is just trying to make sense of religion, philosophy and science. Other major themes are loss and mistrust.

Moon Music Orchestra

Multi front-men, Multi-coloured A couple of rooms above a little pub in Borough are the MMO HQ. Something of an east-end Big Pink, The Gladstone is where the Moon Music Orchestra has gone from loose-knit collective to folk-rock force. Feet firmly on the ground, the band run the pub and practice above it. The walls upstairs are lined with banjos, guitars and mandolins while a well-worn tape-machine resides on the coffee-table, ready to roll.
