Simon Breed began The Birthmarks when, some time after the demise of his critically-acclaimed band Breed, he took himself to New York with an acoustic guitar and a cheap keyboard from Brixton Market, to test his mettle with solo gigs in the East Village. After going down a storm, he returned to London to play with the occasional assistance of talented multi-instrumentalist John Sullivan on keyboards.
Mild Horses is a new band supplementing what was formerly an experimental home recording project of Matt Leuw (formerly of 2 Hot 2 Sweat, Coin-op, Crest & Cortez) welding drifty post-rock to Morricone-like spaghetti western twang. Having self released the From The Woods e.p. earlier in 2012, and having written a clutch of new songs, Matt decided to find like minded artists to bring these songs to life and soon brought onboard fellow Norwich refugee and current South West London resident Rory McVicar.
