Monstertone was founded in January 2007. Guitar player Jeff van Dokcum was thinking about starting a 70's orientated rock band. He had always been inspired by rock bands from the time he was growing up, bands like Led Zep and Sabbath. A couple of years later there were bands like Down, Pantera and Corrosion of Conformity that were also giving him the urge to start a band with all these influences.
