Ape are an energetic 5-piece Rock band hailing from Cornwall. They have been on the circuit for the last few years, up and down the country, playing pubs, venues and festivals, gaining a wide spread fan base on their travels. Recently signed to independent record label Black7 they have been recording at the legendary Sawmills with producer John Cornfield who's credits include the likes of Oasis, Muse, Razorlight, and The Verve, to name but a few.
Making a scene at Battle of the Bands around the South West, they won the Sailor’s Battle in 2009. More recently beat fierce competition from hundreds of UK entries in the Carve Magazine “Search for a band”. Having been together for nearly 5 years they have a modest collection of songs, the debut album will undoubtedly be full of classics. Up until July 2010 Ape had been a four piece, but decided to take on another guitarist, introducing Mr. Dave Kellaway. A former frontman himself, a wise decision that will only add to the formidable songwriting machine that makes APE.
The band had a major promotional boost recently thanks to winning the Carve Magazine comp. A free download offer was sent to over 1 million consumers associated with Game the Uk’s leading games retailer. Nice!
The debut single ‘Wonderful Guy’ is due for release very soon, so all in all things seem to be hotting up for these boys……….!
