The Wiyos -
Vaudevillian Ragtime Blues, Hillbilly Swing and Old Time Country
The old-time spirit of The WIYOS mirrors that of the
medicine shows of the 1920's and 30's, when black
and white musical traditions mixed liberally and
genre distinctions didn't exist between blues and
country, ragtime and gospel, or swing and hillbilly
music. Accordingly, The WIYOS write songs that are
equally influenced by music from the Blue Ridge
Mountains and New York City, mixing the more
urbane sounds of Django Reinhardt, the Gershwin

Brian Viglione

Brian Viglione, along with Amanda Palmer, make up the band The Dresden Dolls. Viglione's main role in the band is that of drummer, although he does bass, guitar, vocals and some other things occasionally, while Palmer plays the piano and leads vocals. The music for the duo is considered both highly dynamic and innovative, combining rock influences with their unique take on cabaret music. Brian is often seen in mime(pictured) or classical styles of dress on stage or in pictures from the band's site, adding to the neo-cabaret sound and image of the band.

A Terrible Splendour

A Terrible Splendour is a musical project from MM Lyle and Martin Block. The sound is a fusion of electro, pop and cabaret, with lyrical and stylistic influences coming from early 80's New Romanticism and the Weimar Republic. The material here is from their six-song demo. The Russians/Slaves to the City double A-side was released on iTunes in 2010. Nina Hagen

Catharina Hagen (born on March 11, 1955) is a singer from East Berlin, Germany. She's a daughter of well-known East German actress Eva-Maria Hagen and writer Hans Oliva-Hagen. They divorced 5 years later due to the rising success of Eva-Maria (called "East Germany's Brigitte Bardot") as an actress on stage and in films. When Catharina (Nina) was 10 years old Eva-Maria had a partnership with dissident song-writer Wolf Biermann (see links at the end).

Max Raabe (December 12, 1962 in Lünen, North Rhine-Westphalia) is a German singer and band leader of the Palast Orchester. He and his orchestra specialize in recreating the sound of German dance and film music of the 1920s and 1930s, especially by performing songs of the Comedian Harmonists. He founded the Palast Orchester in 1986. His career and that of the Palast Orchester advanced with a Schlager hit entitled "Kein Schwein ruft mich an" ("Why does no one call" aka "No pig calls me", 1992), a pop song in 1920s' style...
