The Resplendents

Leeds based 8-piece The Resplendents formed in 2005 out of a desire to make new music the old way. With rich vocal harmonies, twin saxes and a rhythm section inspired by the funk and soul of Detroit & Memphis the band are unique amongst their contemporaries. Live performances mix the passion of James Brown, the spirit of Dexy’s, and the big sound of Arcade Fire whilst also embracing a more tender sound inspired by Burt Bacharach and Jimmy Webb.

Alice in Grooveland

Intrepid quartet of jazz funksters with an impressively varied repertoire. Expect anything from the classic 50s Blue Note sound to 70s space funk - spiced up with a dash of 90s acid jazz and Brazilian disco! AIG have the chameleon-like ability to tailor their sound to very different venues and audiences - they are equally at home in a classy restaurant, busy pub or crowded nightclub. How did it all start? In mid 2009, four busy, experienced musicians joined forces to form a project that is creative and entertaining in equal measure. After experimenting with various line ups, they settled on the present lean, stripped-down quartet format in November 2009. 'The uncluttered line up gives us the space to try anything,' explains keyboardist Andrew. With the introduction of more and more original material, impromptu jams with vocalists and the increasing use of synths and electronics, 2010 looks promising indeed for Alice in Grooveland. Catch them live around central and South East London - not to be missed!
