Olan mill

Olan Mill is Alex Smalley and Svitlana Samoylenko and 'Pine' marks the first release for the two as collaborators. The album comprises ten instrumental pieces and between Smalley and Samoylenko we are treated to the sound of the piano, violin, pipe organ and guitar. Other sound sources may reveal themselves to the astute listener, but for the most part, 'Pine' is concerned with big, stirring sound palettes which belie the duo's modest array of instruments.

El Ten Eleven

El Ten Eleven is a Los Angeles-based instrumental rock duo consisting of Kristian Dunn and Tim Fogarty. What separates El Ten Eleven from their musical peers is that they are only two musicians on stage creating pounding landscapes of sound with no laptops or sequencers. Dunn switches off (sometimes mid-song) between a double-neck bass/guitar and a fretless bass, while his feet dance on an extensive floorboard of looping devices and effects pedals. He plays everything live, loops himself and juggles all the layers of tracks on top of each other.

Cuushe

Cuushe, who is greatly inspired by music like Board of Canada, L’altra, started out her musical career as a member in a collage pop band, and eventually ventured into solo-project works in 2003. Using her mesmerizing airy vocals as the main instrument, Cuushe composes pop-infused electronic music that is lovable and yet uniquely different from any other song-based pop sounds out there. Together with the delicate lyrics penned by her, the multi-talented cuushe beautifully projects a subtle musical world that is carefully wrapped with sensitive emotion and fragile memories.

Cornelia

Cornelia: 'Oxygen is my friend.
Without her, you could say I just wouldn't be.
My song... our song, that you hear - it’s a relationship. Our conversation.
The air and my chest meeting at some half way point in my throat. So, this is what I do. I write songs, and in turn they rewrite me.
I sing them.
I sometimes play them... or just play with them. The song needs to be played with; it has its own character and feel. Like plants, rabbits... they all need that arching fresh air to function. Sound sweet sound, whether I'm up or down.
