Hypnotic Brass Ensemble

The Hypnotic Brass Ensemble is an instrumental group comprised of 8 horn players and a drummer, all sons of jazz musician Kelan Phil Cohran (who played trumpet in Sun Ra Arkestra). Originally from [placeformed]Chicago, IL, they are currently based in New York City. They just launched a brand spanking new website www.hypnoticbrass.net. Norman Connors

Norman Connors (born March 1, 1947 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) is an American jazz drummer, composer, arranger, producer, and headliner, who has led some influential jazz and R&B groups. He had some big R&B hits of the day, especially in the area love ballads and songs with a positive statement in both titles and lyrics. Connors became interested in jazz as a child, and began playing drums early, once sitting in for Elvin Jones at a John Coltrane performance he attended while in middle school.

Brasstronaut

Like their hometown of Vancouver, British Columbia, Brasstronaut is hard to pin down. Their debut album, Mt. Chimaera, possesses qualities of the fjord-flanked city's unpredictable character. Since forming in 2007, Brasstronaut has steadily acquired the hands necessary to fuse a diverse range of genres and this follow-up to their Old World Lies EP represents the first statement by the band's definitive six-piece line-up. Vocalist and keyboardist Edo Van Breemen is joined by a roster fluent in trumpet, lap steel, flugelhorn and the seldom-heard EWI (a wind synthesizer), among others.

The Hot 8 Brass Band

The Hot 8 Brass Band is a New Orleans based brass band that blends hip-hop, jazz and funk styles with a traditional New Orleans brass sounds. It was formed in 1995 by tubist Bennie "Big Peter" Pete, merging two earlier bands, the Looney Tunes Brass Band and the High Steppers Brass Band. In the wake of Hurricane Katrina, the Hot 8 Brass Band was propelled to wider prominence by an appearance in Spike Lee's 2006 documentary When the Levees Broke: A Requiem in Four Acts.

ReBirth Brass Band

The Rebirth Brass Band is a New Orleans brass band. The group was founded in 1983 by tuba player Philip Frazier, his brother Keith Frazier and trumpeter Kermit Ruffins, along with other musicians with them at the Joseph S. Clark Sr. High School in the Treme neighborhood of New Orleans. Rebirth is known for combining traditional New Orleans brass band music, including the New Orleans tradition of second line with funk, jazz, and soul influences. In 1992, Ruffins and Rebirth split amicably after Ruffins decided not to accompany the band on a trip to Africa.
