Bloodloss

Originally founded in the early '80s by singer/saxophonist/guitarist Renestair EJ and singer/drummer Martin Bland in Sydney, Australia, Bloodloss' loud blues/Vegas/punk craziness went through two brief periods of existence in that decade. By all accounts the first was the more notorious, concluding with the group trying to torch the studio they were recording in. The late '80s brought reformation and an album release or two, but when former member Stu Spasm invited both core members to join his current band, Lubricated Goat, they concentrated on that for a few years.

The Heads

There are three bands named "The Heads": 1) The Heads (1968) released Heads Up in 1968 on the Liberty Label (LST-7581). Members included Thomas Fraterrigo, Louis Buonome, Robert Fricalli, and Angelo Buonome. The Heads were produced by former Frankie Lymon and The Teenagers's Joe Negroni. Heads Up! is a forgotten classic of late sixties "head" music. 2) The Heads (1993), based in Bristol, belong to the space-rock school of extreme psychedelic rock founded by Hawkwind, but they also absorb the dadaistic elements of the Flaming Lips.

Ursula Minor

Laudanum proves a powerful introduction to this Glaswegian four-piece. Ursula Minor have taken their time over five tracks on this debut EP rather than trying to rush through a full album’s worth of material, and the result is well-realised, offering a giddy haze of guitars and vocals that’s heavily influenced by My Bloody Valentine and any other shoegaze band you’d care to mention. Many bands try this recipe and many sound dreadful - sometimes it’d be nice if people left the shoegaze sound alone.

120 Days

120 Days found each other in Kristiansund, Norway, but decided if they ever were to reach out to a larger audience they'd need to move to another town. And so they pooled their money, bought an RV and drove it to Oslo and lived rent-free (you don't have to pay rent for the sidewalk) creating music in their tight-quarters studio/mobile home. Imagine a handful of Neu!, Spacemen 3 and XTRMNTR-era Primal Scream obsessed kids hanging in an RV in a city that sees periods of darkness that last for weeks on end. Then 120 Days makes a lot more sense.
